    Driver's Training

    All 4-H Volunteers who operate University vehicles, rental vehicles, or their own automobiles to transport 4-H members to or from a 4-H sponsored event must complete an approved driving course in order to be reimbursed for costs (University business) associated with the operation of said vehicle.

    (4-H Volunteers who transport youth for general 4-H Club travel are not required to take the driver training.)  

    Driver Training Procedure:

    1. Go to

      • Because you must be enrolled as a driver both with Utah Division of Risk Management and the Utah Division of Fleet Operations, it is important that you use this link. Taking the driver's training registers you with Risk Management; clicking the big blue button on the above link and submitting the form along with your certificate of completion gets you register with Fleet Operations.
      • If this is your first time logging in to the Utah Learning Portal, click on "Enter the Portal" under the State Interns or Volunteers box.  You will be asked to create an account. Most of the information requested to create the account will make sense, but please make sure to select MST (GMT-007) as your time zone and use "usu" as your security keyword.

    2. Take the online test.

    3. Once you have your certificate of completion, click the big blue button, fill out the form, attach your certificate, and hit submit.  NOTIFY the 4-H OFFICE at 385-468-4830 that you have completed the training and submitted your certificate. 

    4. If you've followed those steps correctly, you should be okay to drive for USU.
