4-H is an innovator in developing youth leaders with decision-making skills to prepare them for the future . The activities involved with leadership development vary greatly, but are all focused on improving the quality aspects of a young leader through reflection, explanation of leadership principle, and personal experiences.
Youth are learning life, decision making and social skills and just having a great time with an adult and friends. Through lessons that provide discovery of science, cooking, personal health, nutrition and arts and crafts youth learn to listen, create and process new and old ideas and skills.
The Salt Lake County 4-H Animal Programs are designed for youth who love animals, or would like more experience with animals. Youth learn responsibility, money management, service, animal husbandry, and a good work ethic. The focus is to provide experiences to help youth develop leadership, self-esteem, and other life skills through hands-on projects.
4-H Shooting Sports
The Salt Lake County 4-H Shooting Sports Program
Skills workshops help 4-H members prepare for County Contests. These workshops present great opportunities to learn about a contest, develop new skills, or improve your competition skills.
Contests give 4-H members the chance to exhibit their talents and test the skills they learned in workshops. It’s a chance to show what they know. Whenever possible our staff tries to conduct the county contest as similar to the state contest as possible, utilizing the same rules, time allowances and judging criteria.
Regional Events & State Contests
Regional Events are opportunities for 4-H Youth to boost their competition skills as they hone their expertise and contend for a chance to compete in State Contests.
